TECHNOLOGIES

BOILERS

The efficiency of many boilers can be improved by utilising digital control, modulating burners and flue gas economisers. Deltamech can calculate the potential savings and establish implementation costs, identify potential equipment suppliers and compile technical specifications.

BUILDING FABRIC

Poor insulation levels and building air tightness, especially in older factory buildings cause un-necessarily high heating bills. Deltamech can provide advice on how best to spend funds to maximise the effect of upgrading buildings.

COMBINED HEAT & POWER (CHP)

Combined heat and power systems provide both electricity and heat to be consumed on site. This technology can provide extremely high savings where there is a constant requirement for heat and electricity. Swimming pools and process industry would be typical examples. Deltamech can conduct feasibility studies to establish the savings, implementation cost and payback of CHP systems.

COMPRESSED AIR

Over 90% of the electrical energy consumed by an air compressor is wasted as heat, making compressed air a very expensive commodity. Minimisation in compressed air requirement, reduction of leakage, and heat recovery are all areas where savings can be made. Deltamech can analyse compressed air requirement, measure and monitor leakage rates and advise on the best method of heat recovery.

DRYING & CURING

Drying and curing processes consume large amounts of energy which is often discarded to atmosphere. This wasted heat energy can often be utilised in other processes or recovered via heat exchangers to provide space heating. Deltamech can establish the options of heat recovery that are viable and calculate the potential savings and assist in the implementation.

EXTRACTION SYSTEMS

Extraction systems are often overlooked as potential areas of saving, often running continuously at full speed regardless of requirement. Simple, cost effective measures can be taken to optimise the performance of extraction systems and therefore minimise consumption. Deltamech can evaluate the control options necessary to minimise the energy consumption.

HEAT RECOVERY

The recovery of wasted heat is one of the biggest areas of saving within manufacturing and process industries. In the past, no consideration of utilising waste heat has been given, usually dissipating to atmosphere or to drain. Heat recovery from flue gases, warm air from dryers and warm water from processes can all yield substantial savings. Deltamech can advise on the many methods of heat recovery and calculate the potential savings as well as locate potential equipment suppliers and establish cost to implement.

LIGHTING

Lighting technology is one of the fastest developing areas of energy efficiency. Deltamech can advise on energy efficient lamps, lighting control and voltage reduction technologies to minimise your companyʼs expenditure on lighting.

MOTORS & DRIVES

High efficiency motors and especially variable speed drives can yield substantial savings by optimising the running speed of motors on pumps, fans and other equipment.

PUMPS & FANS

Variable speed drives can yield substantial savings by optimising the running speed of motors on pumps and fans.

POWER OPTIMISATION

Power Optimisation is a technology that utilises the fact that modern electrical equipment is designed to run on 220 or 380 volts rather than 240 or 415 volts. Reducing the supply voltage results in substantial savings being made. Deltamech can establish the potential saving at your site and advise the cost of implementation and payback period.
